How big a job is it to change the seal on the advance lever on a 1.6 T/D pump, does the whole pump have to come apart to get to it? I'm getting ready to try the new T/D I built for my Rabbit, just put it in the other day and I'm pretty sure it's leaking there. I put a new main shaft seal on it before I put it together and ran the engine for about 20 min. total with a cooling system and didn't notice any leaks then and I was runing it on 50/50 diesel and trans fluid which I thought would help the seals too. :x

the advance lever un bolts with 2 screws and is super easy to replace the 2 o rings. you gotta take the pump off unless you have some freakish triple jointed hands or something. but the hardest part for me was just getting the pump off. once i started re sealing it, it took me like 20 mins for the 2 o rings
