Title: Which oil return line for T3 on 1.9?
Post by: rabbid79 on February 24, 2009, 11:22:03 pm
Hi, I'm providing help over the phone for a friend of a friend installing a 1.9 into his Caddy.  It should be a pretty nice ride once complete.  He even purchased a Giles pump for it.  Anyway, he has decided to go with a T3, but apparantly it has a massive oil return flange compared to the new oil return line he has.  I assume that the line he has was intended for a K03 with a smaller flange?  Is there a specific oil return line he could order from VW that will properly adapt to the T3 and drain into the back of the block?  If such a part exists, and if anyone has a part number I would be appreciate your input.  Thanks.

When I put the T3 on my AAZ, I took both end fittings and a measurement to a local hydraulic hose shop. They made a very nice stainless braided hose and supplied the fittings to replace the banjo fitting with a JIC flare.

I am installing a T3 on a N/A engine. I got hydraulic hose(got mine from Surplus center, but Harborfreight and tractor supply sell them) and fittings and drilled a hole in the oil pan, welded a nut inside the pan. Threaded the flange to the turbo. Hose and fittings $15. If you can find a shop to make you a hydraulic line you could go stock looking but might be expensive.
