Hello to all. I've got an 85 Golf 1.6L NA that's my daily driver. Exhaust wise its got 2.25" pipe from under the driver (basically) all the way back to a Dynomax super turbo. The manifold is stock though, and it is leaking somewhere. I'd like to get a little mpg out of it (i get consistent 40 @ 65mph right now), so my question is what's best option for a good flowing new manifold, an OEM one from an 8V (not sure what options are available, just know that i need 8V parts from reading on here) or a header like this one: http://www.turbotechracing.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=1523
I don't really care too much about performance for this car, it gets around just fine for me, but i'd like to let her breathe a little better and get some more MPG if possible, no matter how little! :D Thanks for any help!

if you could get that header to work, it couldn't hurt... the one in the pic looks like a 16v version.

All i'm looking for is straight up bolt up, i can't have this car down for long since i have a long commute.

It looks like it's from a Honda to me.
You can get a 4:2:1 exhaust manifold/downpipe combo from a mk2 8V GTI and bolt that on. You will have to go custom when you hook it up to your exhaust though

I think this is what would work best.

It's a bit pricey ($360), but it looks like it will fit right in there and all i'd need is a flex joint at the end, right?

That's what I have on mine -- partly because it used to be a mk2 8V GTI.... and I didn't want to mess with the exhaust when I swapped the diesel in there. It seems to have pretty good power -- maybe a little more than a standard rabbit diesel. But.. that's my completely non-scientific opinion :)

that would be a really nice exhaust setup!!! the price is very reasonable as well. yea it would need a flex joint as well. the diesel vibrations might break this thing.

That's what i'm worried about.
