Title: vacume pump repair???

Just got my caddy on the road with the 1986 1.6 na in it and found the rotary vacum pump is not ceateing vacume , i have not taken it apart yet has any body had any exp. with this??? any serviceable items in it??

If its a rotary pump, like what would have come stock on a 1986 motor, I do not believe that the internal parts are available from the dealer anymore. There are no real "serviceable" parts in there.

I'd check to see that the vanes are not stuck, and that the internal surface (upon which the vanes ride) is not rusted/pitted, etc.

If all that checks out, then it should work just fine.

Did the car sit for a while? if so the vanes may just be sticking. There isn't much too break in them, so taking it apart to clean and a  apply a tiny bit of light oil. Just be very careful removing the rubber hose that is attached to the pump. It's very easy to break the plastic fitting it's clamped to.

yes the engine had been sitting in a garage for i do not know how long but long enought , i will take it apart and see whats going on , thanks mark
