Hi everyone.
Having trashed my old TD engine one last time (bust piston), I decided it was time for a TDi conversion for my T4 Transporter van.
I have a 1Z engine (now in bits) ready to build up, but wanted to replace the pistons with something stronger. I am aiming to get around 120-150bhp when all sorted. The van already has a huge intercooler fitted, and a new GT15 turbo was fitted about 15,000 miles ago.
I am looking for advice on pistons, as have been advised to try ALH pistons, but interested in other peoples views..... Also looking at aftermarket pistons, such as Mahle.
I have gathered a few pump bits, but need some advice there also. I have an old AFN pump that had a bearing fail, and also have a good set of AFN injectors to use.
Any advice/hints appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Rob

I'm planning on ALH pistons on my 1Z/AHU mtdi. If you want some extra insurance you could get the tops ceramic coated. Kolbenschmidts are a high quality brand. I don't think Mahle is too bad either but I could be mistaken.

If you are looking for maximum strength go for the oil cooled dome version.
I'm going to be ordering several sets soon and could put your name on the list. I have to warn you they aren't cheap.
I also have TDI ALH pistons in Nural brand which are quite good, in stock in stock and .5mm over
PM me if you are interested.
