I have a 1.6l na and in pursuit of more power, but don't plan on making the switch to Turbo quite yet. I've heard many good things about Giles' injection pump rebuilds but not quite convenced that it's worth the money. So what i'm asking is for others that have these pumps or have been around these pumps and what their impression of them was. Also how well do his tuned pumps do on a naturally aspirated diesel. Any info would be great. Thanks Cambo

I've seen some impressive dyno differences.
20% increase sometimes. I'm sure Tyler or Giles him self will post some data sheets for you. Have you looked at his web site?

No i havent do you have a URL? and were those improvments on a NA?

Here is the link to his site. Tyler is running a Giles pump in an N/A application. I think he's been happy with it. In fact, I've yet to hear anyone say that it wasn't worth the money...

If anyone has any vids of these pumps in action that would also be great info, also if you'all don't mind me asking, how much does it cost for a 1.6l IP rebuild if i supply the core?

Here is my experiences with the pump install.

A performance pump for a NA is $750 CAD (presently $605.433 USD).
You can either mail us your pump and we overhaul it, or you call us with your pump number, we build one from stock and then mail it to you. You then send your old pump back to us. It does need to be in repairable condition.
Here is an example of an unacceptable core

And Tyler delivers :)

Tyler, that was exactly what I needed to read. That info seals the deal, now all i'm waiting for is the engine swap

Perfect. Glad I could help
I really wish my diesel was running :(
-
Wow, that's an awesome deal with the poor exchange rate these days.

Giles' very first crack at a performance n/a pump, 5 years ago, gained 22hp at the wheels on his delivery rabbit. 22!! No other mods. That's the same HP and more torque than the 1.7L gas rabbits.
His pumps have come a long way since then.
DEFINITELY worth the money.
This one isn't n/a, but it's a rabbit with a Giles pump in action.
2nd gear burnout with a peloquin differential.

It doesn't like the cold. It took about 1 minute of straight cranking to get it started in -22. The starter is crap on it so I don't mind wearing it out.
Looks like I might not have a choice though...
BOT though...

sounds like you need some brake parts cleaner to help starting!

A Giles pump was the best thing I did to my 1.6TD last year. I only got to use it for a month but man was that one of the best months ever! My first butt dyno with that thing made me giggle like a school girl. And tomorrow i'm mailing my 1.9TD pump in to get the same treatment :D

This is all great information, Thanks So much! :D

What's the going rate on a performance turbo pump?
-
950 CAD or 753.425 USD according to xe.com
If you are going crazy on power and need a different head the price does change based on the parts and extra labour required.
