Thanks to the help of a couple of fellow enthusiast I'm finally in the process of doing the boost pin upgrade on my 1.9TD. Is there anything else that I'm going to need to do this properly other than the rover pin??
Thanks.
-
Yes, from what I've seen you need several other parts, depending on how your AAZ pump is currently set up. You also need the rover pin spring, the starwheel, the little starwheel metal clip thingy (technical term) and maybe the nylon washer. You will want to measure the diameter of the pins and make sure they are the same. If they aren't, then you will also need the threaded tube that the pin slides in and the locknut that keeps it in place.
HTH,
Andrew
Yikes!! I had trouble enough just finding the pin let alone all that other stuff. Where do I begin to look?? :?:

In a used pump...
Pull the four screws from the aneroid top and snap a picture of what's in your current pump and the info provided will be more accurate.
Andrew
Thanks, I won't be able to take any pictures until tomorrow but for today I can tell you that's it a 94 Canadian 1.9 TD. If that helps any??

Nope, unfortunately, Canada got multiple different IP versions on the AAZ engine.
The key thing to confirm before you go any farther is if it even has a boost pin... one version of the early AAZ engine (common on early Canadian Passats and possibly MK3s) did not, and if this is the case you'll want to track down a whole new lid.
The no-boost-pin version looks like this:

Flat top where the LDA normally sits... no boost pin nor any of the other internals required to "read" it.

Way to cold to take anything apart today and it's suppose to get even colder tonight. I did mange to take a couple of pictures though.

"joke pin"??
Just my luck! I gather I will be farther ahead looking for a dilapidated pump for parts. What would be a fair price to have to pay for something like that?? Any idea's??

contact Gilles in the vendor's section he may be able to help.

Who says you have to add a star wheel & clippy thing? Its not an eco, he should be fine with the pin & spring, no?
-
I don't have a starwheel or clippy thing, though I did get a much stronger spring. I don't smoke like a freight train either.

Ya looks good! You might want to pull your pin out & check the diameters. Whats he asking for it?
