Title: New to me - euro van.
Post by: ein bora on January 07, 2009, 08:39:54 am
My newest acquisition - a 1992 euro van, auto with a tired 2.5 gas engine. The interior is mint with all amenities, original stove, fridge and what not's, can't wait to get started on the restro and go camping this summer. My question is the motor is apparently an audi motor and could use a rebuild, I'm playing with the idea of possibly installing a turbo diesel into it. Any thoughts on this conversion and what would work best, or what might fit and bolt right in there?? Thanks.

i think a 2.4 5 cyl diesel might fit in, and also the older 2.0 audi diesel as it is very similar.

you can also get a mounting kit to install a 4 cylinder diesel engine.

it all depends on how much you want to pay...

Nice find.
The Audi 5 cylinder TDI motor will fit in there.

Would advise against the 2.4 5 cylinder VW IDI diesel (AAB motor)... unless you add a turbo.

Stock it's around 70+ hp and is generally paired with a tranny that has it roaring on the highway... if you get up to that speed.;-)
