Title: Gasser clutch on 1.6?
Post by: lord_verminaard on December 11, 2008, 07:57:42 am
I've tried searching but come up with mixed results.  I think I read that you can use the larger 8v gasser clutch in place of the 1.6D clutch.  So basically all I need is the complete gasser setup, right?  Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate?  Or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Brendan

Bolts right on.

I'm one of many using the larger gasser clutch on my diesel.
Pressure plate, clutch disk, flywheel is all needed.

You can run the 190 clutch disk with the 210mm clutch assy as well.

Just remember that the gasser flywheel may or may not have the critical timing mark at TDC.

the gasser flywheel i used on my 1.6n/a worked but the timeing marks where different then the diesel. i set the tdc with the idi flywheel and used the injetion dial guage to verify where i was and swaped on the gas flywheel and marked the tdc onto the gas flywheel for later use.

apparently the diesel clutch springs are stiffer... something to think about!

I noticed that one of the flywheels I have(could be gasser) is thinner-lighter any advantage?

heard some where on the forum that the lighter flywheel will rev up faster, less wight to get turning. and the better fuel mileage with less weight to move down the road HA HA .
