I think these phpbb boards are attacked and stolen occasionally.
They probably pulled it on a weekend because it'll give them more time before it is taken back.
If Jack shut it down, I'd like to think he would have notified us first.
We probably won't know for sure what happened until Monday.

Looks like his DNS expired yesterday - I guess his registrar doesn't auto-renew it for him. I hope he can get his domain name back, it can be difficult once someone else swipes it like this!

A whosis search says Jack's domain expired as of today but still listed to an address in Ohio... which sounds right... so it may be as simple as a quick email to his ISP. Unless someone snags it and holds it for ransom "gimme all your 1.6l precombustion chamber inserts or the domain gets it" :wink:
The site (and all that precious info) will be sitting there humming but unreachable at the moment... worst case, he finds a new domain name and carries on. Lots of external links break but that's the internet for ya. :roll:

I think when your domain name expires you have a chance to get it back before someone else gets it.
For about 8 times what the domain name normally cost, you can get it back within a certain window of time,. I think it's 30 days.
