Title: Gtd Gearbox Question
Post by: ally on December 07, 2008, 08:01:34 am
My diff has just given up on my gtd golf. I have a Golf gti 020 ACD code 8v gti box lying around.
Will this be able to be bolted striaght on as a temp, and what would i need to change if anything.?
Does the clutch assembly stay the same. And also do i have to change the driveshafts for the gti ones, obviously it depends on the CV boot size, if its 100mm or 90mm.
Really need to get the car back on the road.

the broken diff gtd box code is 4T 12041 thats on the car now

cheers

Go to scirocco.org to the gears section to see the tranny codes you have. They have a cool gear ratio calculator too.

The 4T code box is used on many of the 1.8 carburetted petrol mk2's, perhaps 1.6's as well. A tour of the scrapyard looking at the white paper sticker inside the boot of MK2's will save much grovelling underneath in all the clatty stuff.
