Title: Good Machine shop in Ottawa?
Post by: b1rdjx88 on November 12, 2008, 09:19:55 am
Could anyone recommend a good auto machine shop in Ottawa?

I have an aaz that I would like to get some work done on.

-Bore/hone block

-resurface head
-install 4 new valve guides

-grind crank main journals
-tdi repair on crank nose

I expect most places from the yellowpages would be fine for the block/crank work, I'm just nervous about the head.

Thought I would update this thread in case anyone stumbles across this in the archives.

I had the crank machined for tdi pulley and polished by a guy in Manotick.  He did a great job and had it done the next day.

I dropped the block off at Bells Corners Machine Shop in Nepean.  They told me it would be cleaned up and micced  in a couple days and they would have it bored within two weeks.  Three weeks later they still hadn't touched it.  It was finally finished 6 weeks after I dropped it off.

I took the head into Hodge's Service Center on Bronson Ave.  Dave who runs their machine shop seems good.  He is doing a full resurfacing with the precups removed and valve job.  I dropped it off last week and I should have it back this week.   I also had him order some total seal rings for me  :D
