Title: AAZ into mk1 question
Post by: ilikevwdiesel on November 08, 2008, 04:46:32 pm
Do the large pin AAZ injection pumps bolt right onto the 1.6 injection pump/engine mount bracket found on mk 1 cars? That is if you are installing an AAZ into a rabbit does the mk 1 bracket work fine on the AAZ?  :?

The reason I ask is I just installed a 97 AAZ into my Caddy, the pump has the pulley held on by 3 bolts. Now I'm having trouble with the IP.  I can get a good deal on the earlier AAZ pump that uses the big pin to lock it but I don't know the deal with this setup as far as the bracket and the timing cover set. I modded the AAZ cover and used a gasser mount on the present setup, but how does it all work out on big pin pumps? I have plenty of 1.6 IP/engine mount brackets. And one more thing: will the serp belt setup work when you use the mk1 mount bracket?

Check the FAQ for info on the mk1 serp setup. I had to cut a piece off the bracket

I think you can just use a 1.6 bracket with the single piece pulley AAZ pumps

thanks for the info. I wonder if the bracket won't have to be cut on an AAZ where the block is taller?

It's possible. Mount it up and you'll see right away
