Apparently my wastegate is broken... What are my options?
-
Open or closed ?
-
Sorry, I'm getting frustrated.
This is a continuation of http://vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=17001
I Was told that the wastegate is F%$#ed, lack of boost would indicate stuck open since the BOV is blocked off.
-
Remove the turbo and fix it maybe?
-
sounds like the screw on the wastegate needs to be screwed down???

OK! I need to do this as well. where is this screw?
you can set the waste gate with said screw correct?
-
Depends on the turbo.
On the kkk turbos there is a screw in the middle of the waste gate you can clamp down to raise boost but on a T3.. If it's stuck open your going to need to take it apart I believe.
-
Is there a thread on that? I couldn't find one. (i have a t3. I don't know if its stuck open i just want to change it to 20 psi)
-
take the dp off (lots of penetrant) and give the wastegate dump valve some good taps to get it to close. there is probably a good amount of buildup around it though... maybe torch it to burn it off?
-
same problem :(
will torching it work? wont it kill the membrane that pulls the vane up?

you need to take it apart and lap or clean the sealing surface.

I plugged it with JB weld. I took some pictures of that i think on my much anticipated 1.6td build thread
I plugged the 90 degree fitting that connects to the rubber line.
