Title: Mystery connector on dash
Post by: molgrips on October 20, 2008, 09:11:22 am
Concealed beneath a removable panel just under the instrument display and adjacent to where the stereo goes there is a multi way connector with about 20 or so pins in it, four or five of which are used.  Wtf is this all about?

The car is a 1994 Passat of the B4 variety, 1.9 TD AAZ engine.  No engine computer, so it's not any kind of communications port.  It looks like OE rather than something that someone's added later in life.

It's the Assembly Line Diagnostics Connector.  I think it can talk to the alarm module as well as the engine computer in cars that have them (ie the ABA 2L gas, or the TDI)

Nothing, because you have a diesel engine.  If your car came with a gas engine it would talk to the ECU.

One chassis, two engine options.
