I can not get my crank to water pump belt to line up. I installed a new water pump (40 mm hub) and now nothing lines up. Do the make different pumps? I do not have the old one to compare with.
-
Did you use your original pulley or was one supplied with the new pump?
-
I used the origonal pully. I have others but they are the same.
-
Do you, by chance, have the pulley simply facing the wrong way???
How far off in distance (mm.)?
-
I took pictures, but I am unable to post them.

Wow.....Cat yelloooow!!!!! I kind of like that on a block!
It would appear as though the shaft simply wasn't pressed in as far on the rebuild??
-
Isnt there supose to be 2 pullies there?
Oh wait.. That's only if you have PS.
-
Can anyone suggest where I can get a good German water pump?

Some of the newer water pumps come with a metal/rubber gasket that is notably thicker than the fiber gasket that the Rabbits used. It's not enough however, to make the pulleys run out too much, but it can make a difference of about 1/2mm.
What brand WP did you use? Did you replace the whole assembly (pump and housing), or just the pump?
-
it almost looks as if something is out of alignment, like on an angle.. take a pic looking at the block and down the line of the pulley's
i too like the look of cat yellow on a block :D reminds me of all the tonka stuff as a kid.

I took the water pump back to the parts store. They ordered me another one, this one will have a shorter snout.

Looks like it should be in the engine room of a car ferry or powering a film set.
Or a front end loader!
Or a dump truck!
Run 200psi of boost through that and you've got a tractor puller!
