Title: Difference between NA and TD Injector Lines?
Post by: vanbcguy on September 30, 2008, 12:54:42 pm
After a bunch of hunting I've found a source for injector hard lines... Only thing is I notice the supplier has the same part number for their turbo and NA lines, yet I've seen it mentioned on here several times that the NA and turbo lines are "different"...

Besides the obvious (needing to clear the LDA on a turbo) is there any REAL difference between them (gauge, length, etc)?

The manufacturer of the lines (Cohline) is a legit German company.  If there wasn't any real reason NOT to make them the same I can't see why they wouldn't figure it out.  Just trying to decide if I should go ahead and order them or if I'm dooming myself to yet more frustration...

the main difference is breaking pressure, which the lines will be able to handle.  the lines are practically the same as TDI lines in thickness, but i'm not sure if material.  and TDI's run over 200 bar and TD's run 155 bar...

Their NA and TD lines might be the same part number because they're all built to TD spec and shape to make inventory and manufacturing cheaper.

Possible, and in my opinion the most likely explanation.

Never knew that tdi was over 200 bar. That's lots.

then you have a PD motor that can run around 2000 bar

And the common rails run, what, 2.5k? Injection pressures they are a-climbing...

35k PSI on the fuel rails at work, I think. ISB2 Cummins engines, Bosch common rail tech.

Yeah, that would be my thought too.  I looked at the picture of their injector line today and it looks like the actual inlet/outlet position is the same as mine, although the route it takes to get there is a bit different.  Given that they're so affordable here I've ordered a full set just to avoid any issues with different lengths and things between the lines.  Hope they work out!

i have run across some that can't be interchanged because of the first bends coming out of the I.P. 2 different styles!
