I found some Garrett GT2052 turbos for sale here localy, and was wondering if that turbo is to big for our 1.6 TD motors. I don't know how to read turbo maps, but in the description on Garrets website says that there good for 1.4 to 2.0 liter motors.
Anyone care to inform me?

you'll need to turn up the fuel a bit, but that turbo is definitely big enough to blow your HG  probably good till about 25+ psi

Just spoke with the owner and said that these came from a Cat. 4.9L 4cyl.
No wastegate and has a A/R of 60 on the turbine side.
I was looking at Garrett's web site at this turbo and says it got a A/R of 50. Any thoughts. Is it still worth it.

No wastegate ? How will you manage boost ? Sounds like you are inviting a head gasket replacement, if not more. I don't think I'd want the BOV to server full time in this capacity.

He can always add one to the exhaust manifold...
Many petrol turbo cars dont have integral wastegates....the BOV is only for excess boost in the inlet..

all the old cummins 6BT that were found on the 1988 to 1993 rams. that had the Holset HC1 turbo were a free float system(no wastegatre or blowoff valve) the boost was proportional to the fuel. the more fuel the more boost.

yeah thats how i controlled boost with my k24... all the k24s seem to have sticky wastegates.

.60 AR???
Good luck spooling it with your little 1.6..
-
.60 AR, I know. Like I said though, on Garretts site does'nt even list this turbo. It must be some kind of CAT only turbo. I think its got a T25 inlet flange and if so, I'd like to bolt it to a Audi 5cyl. TD ex.man and use the 5th ex. hole for a wastegate  . Maybe, it'll be a R&D project.
As for fuel, I'm expecting my pump from Giles in a week or two, plus the engine has ARP fasteners most everywhere, 1.9 MLG., AAZ head ported and polished and custom intake. I might be abale to push it?

Maybe when it's spinning around 4k...
under 3500 rpm though that AR is gonna kill ya..
Good thing is you can get a smaller housing for it. I wouldn't go above .48, even that will spool slow.
