Unclear if this is total rumor BS or not, but Sign Me Up if they are making them. I followed the Automotive News Europe source, but that didn't have much to add except that the msrp will be a little under $40k.

Wow, cools beans..

Isn't 140 HP enough? Why can't they bring the 1.6 NA back? And provide a car that will get 50mpg again?
probably the media... i guess stature and class goes with how much HP you have under the hood  it's like one big competition or something. too bad we weren't all competing for fuel efficiency  there would be FAR less accidents on the road, less aggressive behaviour, etc.

Wow, good point jtanguay. What a safe and wonderful world we would live in. Do you think the price in fuel would increase or decrease?

I'll admit I'm liking the looks of the new Golf/GTI platform, much better than the A5. Anywho, there was a post on the Vortex about a performance diesel hatch, apparently VW wants to know what the demand is for it. Duh.

well since greed is a given, then the price of fuel would increase, so that they wouldn't make any less money. and then we would become like the Europeans.
that is why we need to start making our own biodiesel, or running on veggie. i've tried some veggie in my car and it ran just fine, in fact i think i got better mileage too!
