Selling the TDI engine I've been working on for about 2 years now.
It WAS a 1.9 AAZ TD, it was converted to TDI when I couldn't find oversized TD pistons, but could easily find ALH pistons.
I'm going to try and list everything I can remember off the top of my head:
-Neural brand .5over AHL pistons.
-Rods were cleaned, checked, and new bushings put in
-crank was checked and polished
-new crank and rod bearings (kolbenschmidt, 6 piece mains)
-rebuilt TDI head (from the dude on TDIclub, the head is beautiful)
-all the gaskets have been replaced
-new pan with metal baffle/scraper gasket
-new timing belt, tensioner, and crank gear
-TDI injectors w/ Sprint 520s
-new oil pump
-Valve cover and proper injection lines are in my possession
iffy things:
-AAZ pump is unknown condition, bought it off eBay, never ran it on anything, also needs to be modified to TDIm, but I have a Cummins 4B pump to go with it, so you can pull the camplate from that. Also have a new 11mm pump head to put on too
-crank nose is obviously AAZ, but it is in good un-wobbled condition, it has a new bolt, properly torqued, so unless you're putting A/C on it, you will have zero problems, and even if you do put A/C on it, you probably won't have problems still.
-no turbo
-no intake manifold (I can include the G60 manifold I have, though, but the ports will need to be opened up)
-because it's an AAZ block and crank, it doesn't have the TDI crank sensor, therefor it cannot be used as a TDI unless you add an external crank angle sensor.
Asking $1200
Transmission is SOLD
thanks
will ship freight at buyers expense, local pickup obviously preferred.

I also have a CTN 02A transmission that I'm willing to sell, can work out a price for both if interested.
-
This is a good deal for someone looking for a motor rebuilt with GOOD quality parts. I can tell you that the parts add up in price but that they are worth the piece of mind! *can attest to that with the mk1 mTDI build and the current b3 build*.
Someone will snag this....
Fuslit on here may have the misc. pieces someone needs to finish this as he has a 1z/AHU motor that he is going to go ahead and part out. Parts like the valve cover, an oil pump...even a true 1z/AHU crank....he would have those if someone wanted to buy them to finish this off with TDI parts

if anyones thinking of getting an m-TDI, this is the way to go... deals like this just don't come up very often, and i'm sure he has well over $1500 into this!!!
i have well into $3500+ into mine, and thats without a transmission!!!
-
I wish you were closer....
-
Very good deal.
-
I wish you were closer....
I know it wouldn't make it that much easier as far as cost, but I've got friends in Canadia that I'd be willing to drive the 3 hours to see, and could freight it while in Canadia, so the border wouldn't have to be dealt with
but it'd still be Vancity to Ontario. :x
-
I'm listing this again since I can't think of any use for it anymore. I can't even get my 1.6TD to run
As such, I've dropped the price again, I know the economy blows, but maybe someone is in the market.
:D

Could you get an estimate to haul the thing to SoCal, either 92627 or 93545?
Thanks
Chris

I'll figure that stuff out and leave the office lady at my work an email to see if she can get me a quote.
Can it be shipped to somewhere with a forklift or loading dock?
-
Could I get a quote as well shipped to 30339. Commercial loading dock.
Edit: without the transmission.
-
I just checked vwmotors on eBay to see what they charge for freight, the 1.6td in my caddy came from them.
They are charging $350-450 to the lower 48. Plus $100 if it's residential.
I'm going to say $350 to CA if it's to a place with a forklift.
$400 to Georgia.
That should cover making the pallet as well.
If it's less I'll refund the difference, if it's more I'll eat the difference.

i believe i have the original aaz head from this motor

That is a heck of a deal on the trans alone! I'm going to be selling my other mTDI build here...and I know I can't sell my CTN for that low! Wowsers! Suprised someone hasn't picked this up yet!
GLWS.

getting the CTN trans shipped to where i live would probably cost $200+... still a very tantalizing deal though :)
how many km's on it?
-
Check with R&L trucking. If they are in your area. I've used them before to ship a 02A from St. Louis to Va. $100
-
bump!
Also, transmission tentatively sold. I just gotta make a box (tomorrow) :x

hey, if you dont sell this thing by september.. ill buy it. cash money. and im close, i live about 80 miles west of portland. but the only catch is, im gonna be in alaska for a while working.
-
Was the guy who did the head Franko6? Thats guy does nice work.
-
How hard would it be to install this engine into a MK1 body. My '80 rabbit is in need of a new engine. Are the engine mounts way off or are there adapters out there? And I guess the trans mounts too, what is offered out there.
-
@ subsonic: yeah, that guy, it's a beautiful piece of work, excellent workmanship.
@ bugnut: If you have to ask about whether it will install into a mk1, then the mechanical TDI will probably be over your head. It's not a simple plug and play engine, takes a LOT of tinkering and understanding of how the diesel works, specifically TDIs and how Bosch injection pumps work, but yes, it will bolt into a mk1, it's a VW diesel, things only changed when the mk4 came out.
