What transmissions would fit a 1992 jetta diesel? 5 Sp manual. Thanks
-
Just about any 020 trans.
You need to go here http://www.scirocco.org/gears/ to see what ration would work best for your car and then go hunting.
-
you could fit just about any transmission with a little bit of modification as well...
-
Early 020 transmissions will not bolt right in. They don't have the bosses on the differential housing for the rear trans mount.
This includes FF, FO, FN, and possibly 2H transmission, and all 4-speed trannys.
-
16V and mk3 (I think) trannys have a larger input spline so you would have to change your clutch if you use one of them
-
i thought fn's worked?
-
I think there is 2 styles of FN and FF, you would need to go by the date code

would this fit? I found a parts car but its a hour and a half away.
1990 Jetta GL 4door Wolfsburg 5spd stick 4 cyl I belive my car is a 1991 diesel jetta. They couldent give me the trans code i dont know why.
-
AGS, ACH codes work well for the diesel. But, many guys go with some gas Jetta/Golf transmissions.
-
How would a gas Jetta transmission effect my spedo?
-
You would need to acquire the correct color-coded plastic speedometer gear. How does that go again....diesel ratios use white and gassers get orange??? One more or one less tooth as I recall.
"Broke" transmission website can show you.
