Title: 1.6 td intake question
Post by: subsonic on September 14, 2008, 12:10:18 pm
Why do some of these intakes have a removable blockoff plate on the front of them?  I have two, one has a blockoff plate, one does not. :?

Thanks for the info Andrew.
So the one with the plate can be used on a transverse engine setup.  Did these also come on the standard 1.6TD setup?  VW adapting a part for multivehicle use?

Thanks for the picture.

The 1.6TD did not come with the block off plate. It was not machined for it but it was cast. At least from what I have seen

Definitly VWs bean counters at work
