Post by: catlin_cava on September 10, 2008, 12:32:27 am
So i'm Redoing the floor in my mk3...and i cam up with this idea...If Rihno liner makes a truck bed almost indestrcutable...wouldn't something like that work for lining a floor inside and out???against rust?

I used the wal-mart stuff (think its dupli-color) in the tub of my Wrangler, with great sucess. Make sure you prep the surface properly or you will have problems with it lifting. and buy a spray can for touch ups. lol

isn't it super heavy though? the real rhino liner is, maybe the textured spray-can stuff wouldn't be too bad but I think i'd just grind out the rust, repair if needed, and spray some high quality rust inhibiting base, then paint/carpet.

rust check has some really good paints.. especially for inhibiting rust, and it doesn't weigh as much as rhino liner.  their stuff can also be applied directly over rust.

if you want something that will probably last forever, go with an epoxy paint.  prep the surface as best as you can, and make sure you get all dirt/grease off.  it will last a very long long time.  the only thing i can think of that would last longer, would be powder coat.

I am going to use herculiner. Yes it is heavier, but  I think it will help with the noise as well, and I am going up the bottom of the firewall in the cockpit. It should be tough as well.
