Title: Need some tins and bits
Post by: Turbinepowered on August 12, 2008, 09:08:47 pm
I need a backing plate for the timing belt cover, that metal piece that goes against the block on the crank pulley end of the engine.

Need water pump and crankshaft pulleys from a Quantum turbo diesel, preferably the later water pump hub style so I can use new water pumps.

Turbo diesel airbox setup? Am I wishing for clouds of sugar here?

Source for turbo gaskets, for between the exhaust manifold and the turbo, and the turbo and the downpipe? I'm guessing these are layered steel or copper, need them for the K24 trapezoid flange for the EM and the K03 on both sides.

I can give you one of the things you're after for free.... won't even charge you shipping and handling.  That's how generous we Canadians are, eh ??!! ;)

What I'm really saying is that, strange as it seems, there is no gasket between the exhaust flange and the turbo.  Some people have 'em made from copper sheeting, or use hi-temp gasket goo, but VW doesn't use 'em.  Probably something about "no material known to man can survive"??

Good idea to lap both surfaces, but other than that they just bolt together.

Love for generous Canadians! If you were a woman I'd kiss you. ;)

So no gasket between manifold and turbo, is there still one on the downpipe side?

I've got a turbo inlet hose, in really good shape, but I'm going to a smaller turbo so it might not fit. :D

And I might be getting everything (minus the airbox) from another Foxer in one lump package, so tight as money is these days for me (School year starting will cure this quickly) I'm looking to save on shipping, so bear with me for another day...

Bumping this up. Got my crank and water pump pulleys taken care of, but I haven't heard back from anyone I've PM'd about an airbox setup.

My hookup for the batch list of everything I needed is moving, the only parts he can lay his hands on immediately are the pulleys, so I'm taking those and moving on.

Burn, man, just tell me where to send money and how much shipping a backing plate down here to 29670 will be, and it'll be on the way.

Hmmmm, may make this my current comprehensive parts hunt thread.

How much would it cost me to lure a set of serpentine pulleys and a serpentine AC compressor from one of you folks? I don't need any of the brackets, but the serpentine alternator, water pump and crankshaft pulleys would all be needed...
