The motor in my '91 Jetta is an MF code solid lifter block. And, yes, they do have 12mm head bolts (or studs if you go that route).

I see you guys don't live close to me and don't have a block for sale.
Thats what I'm looking for. Any help? Any leads?

Thanks Fatmobile..... Shipping is a killer. :( But if I can't find one I might need yours. How much are you asking?
Please don't hijack my post. I am looking for a block. If you don't have one don't leave a message on this post. PM each other if you what to talk about head bolt size or MF code engines.
Thanks.... I'm a little frustrated because the vendor (Parts Place)who said three weeks to put together a short block is going on six, and I need this car running.

Do you just need a block or do you need a shortblock?
blocks are light and cheap to ship through fedex ground.
Just letting you know.
-
FYI - fatmobile might part it out.
I'd possibly interested in the other stuff if you wanted to go in on it...

I have a block at the machinist getting ready to be bored for 1.7 pistons,... they told me it is cracked so it looks like I'll be needing this block.

Could sell you a complete engine that I broke a timing belt on last year, had about 420 pounds of compression until I broke the belt. I'm a long way away though. It's about 3 1/2 hours to buffalo NY. Engine has a sticker on the side that says it was a VW rebuild, so who knows if it's been bored already. Make me an offer and come and help pull it out of a '92 Jetta...........
Got another one in the trailer already out, head off. Head is probably beyond using, but it ran when pulled. Engine had over 500,000 km and less than 275 lbs on all cylinders, guess why it got pulled! Definetly needs to be bored.
Got a third one that was bored and ran great, but had a precup come loose and destroyed one hole..........

Got one from Bryn in Ok.

Good. Hate to see someone stuck for parts!

The Short block I got from Bryn is in very good shape. It had 2 over pistons and a stock crank with standard bearings. I was going to hone it up and re-ring, replace the bearings. But with the luck I have been having I sent the block, pistons and crank to the machine shop to be checked out.
