What's the secret?? My new cable is minus the gear, and it doesn't seem to want to come off. :?:
-
I've heard there is a pin, but mine usually just fall off into the transmission when I remove the cable

I got it.
TY :D

so what's teh secret?
-
ummmm not much of a secret lol.
I wiggled the gear around, while pulling on it. It was harder to get back in.

Actually, there is a wire c-clip inside the gear. There is a hole on the side of the gear. One is supposed to find a small nail, paper clip or such; press into the hole and gently pull off the gear. When you yank it off, sometimes the c-clip bends and doe not want to hold when the gear is replaced. Ask me how I know.

Yes you are right  I tried a small screwdriver and managed to move the clip enough to get the gear off. I then had to squeeze the c-clip a small amount to get it on the shaft tightly, and fit back in the gear 8)
