Title: How do you remove the gear from the speedometer cable???

What's the secret?? :shock: My new cable is minus the gear, and it doesn't seem to want to come off.  :?:

I've heard there is a pin, but mine usually just fall off into the transmission when I remove the cable :evil:

ummmm not much of a secret lol.
I wiggled the gear around, while pulling on it. It was harder to get back in. :shock:

Actually, there is a wire c-clip inside the gear. There is a hole on the side of the gear. One is supposed to find a small nail, paper clip or such; press into the hole and gently pull off the gear. When you yank it off, sometimes the c-clip bends and doe not want to hold when the gear is replaced. Ask me how I know.

Yes you are right :shock: I tried a small screwdriver and managed to move the clip enough to get the gear off. I then had to squeeze the c-clip a small amount to get it on the shaft tightly, and fit back in the gear 8)
