Title: Hole in exhaust manifold mk2 golf/na
Post by: Patrick on August 06, 2008, 06:45:45 am
What a nasty job. Thought I had a bad ggasket, but pulled a spare manifold off a parts engine before I started just in case. Turned out to be a hole in the manifold right near an exhaust port. Very tough thing to change in the car, might have been easier to pull the head! Wouldn't tackle this one without a hoist.

Did you take the intake manifold off first?

Sorry, no pics.  Did NOT pull the intake manifold. Had trouble with one nut on the top side (#3) wound up breaking the manifold off to get access to the nut.  Hole was on the #2 cylinder.  Would have been a lot easier with teh engine out, if I was working at home it's the only way I could have done the job.
