Post by: max and caddy on August 05, 2008, 02:33:29 pm
hi, anybody had any issues with the cambelt "walking" of the sides of the pulleys? mine is doing it and is fluffing up on the tensioner pulley and slowly wearing down the belt, i just changed the ip and its mounting console but still it does it. any ideas?

yes, somebody had that problem, can't remember exactly, but you can have a crooked pulley as well, have you tested for that?

If you just took the pump off as well as the mounting for it and you didn't have this problem before your IP mounting is probably cocked, or the new IP you put on has worn bearings and it running on an angle

The other possibility is the "brace" bracket, that sits behind the IP and is bolted to the block and the IP mounting plate, might not be sitting properly.

Someone linked a TSB that said if you have alignment problems, loosen the bolts holding that brace, push the front (IP plate side) up and the back side down, then retighten.

If you never took that particular brace off, might not be your problem though. My misalignment ultimately was because I had a bent IP bracket.

just one more thing tho, if my pump had worn bearings it would tip the center shaft the same way as if i adjusted the bracket as per the bulletin! odd?
