My pump is leaking from the junction of the main pump body and the part that has the injector line connectors.  What is that seal called?  I have searched through some threads and determined that I don't want to try replacing the seal on my own.  Giles rebuilt the pump about a year ago and I don't want to mess up a good pump trying to do something that's potentially over my head.  If I lived in Canada, I would send it to Giles.  Living in the States created a nightmare getting him my pump for the original rebuild (I was the one that had my pump stolen out of the box in transit).  I have a diesel shop in town that seems to know what they are doing and I don't want to sound like a dummy when I talk to them.

The one bright spot in this whole deal is that it will be easy to change the injector behind the LDA.

You can actually change that seal on the car.

Someone will post the link I'll bet.

It's just a O ring as far as what it's called..

Thanks for the link.  That looks reasonable enough to work on myself.  I need to pull the pump to make sure that my diagnosis on the leak is accurate.

I just had mine resealed a month ago through a guy on Ebay. His username on ebay is red--rider.

He's resealed over 200 of these pumps without any negative feedback and the cost is only $115. he's been a diesel mechanic for 25 years.

He replaces every seal and guarantees your pump leak free for 1 year.

If you want to know the source of the leak on your pump, then you might want to try this: Clean the pump and dry it well, then put flour around the seal you think is leaking. Go for a spin in the car and if the flour gets wet with diesel, you have your leaky seal.

EDIT: i just noticed that you reside in North Carolina....the same state as the guy on ebay. He resides in Lincolnton, he may even be within driving distance for you.

After thinking about the pros and cons of trying to install the o-ring with the IP on the motor I decided to have my IP resealed by red-rider.  Even shipping it back and forth from Tucson, AZ it cost less than $175 and only a week.  

The workmanship was quick and professional and my IP is working perfectly with no leaks.  If you live in NC I would contact him and take my IP to him to be resealed.  You should have 3-4 days total turn around.

yeah i changed mine pretty easily. i ordered mine from this dude in quebec and i modified a flat head driver to get the old one out (its really in there because you have to mallet the new one in) i basically destroyed the old seal but be careful not to mark up the sealing surface of the pump!!!!!! the site isssss
