how much are you supposed to torque down the main bearing bolts on a 1.6 TD also does anyone know what the torque settings for the head bolts are?
-
Main bolts are 48 ft lbs
Head bolts (cold) are, 44 ft lbs + 1/2 turn, re-torque when warm another 1/4 turn.
-
thanks when you say warm do you mean after you drove it a 1000 k or just warm up the car and tourqe it the reset of the way?

For future folks using the search feature (ya, right!), here are some torque specs and rebuild info from vwdieselparts.com

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for life. (or something like that)

No no no. Give a man a fish, he eats for a meal. Teach a man to fish, and you'll never see him again.
or
Give a man a fish, he eats for a meal. Teach a man to fish, he gets himself a boat and some beer and spends all his time on a lake.
:D
Thanks for the torque specs, for my cheekiness.
