HA HA HA!!

That is so funny    My wife uses the A/C all the time, even if it 65 degee's outside  . She doesent want the wind to mess up her hair    .  When my current ride was dying, the first thing she asked is if I planned to fix the a/c when I redid the car.  Cyl head? Transmission? Nope, "When is the A/C going to work?"
What the hell..... she carried 3 kids for me, I guess I can make a few concessions

Way too hot for a dude like me, I'm proud to say!    I had no idea that it resulted in a continuous state of internal overtemping though!
Anyway, problem solved. The system works like a charm!

it took about 7 hours, spread over 3 days! Hard to string together more than 5 hours of usefulness at a time. Part of the time was spent repairing one of the heater box's mounting studs, and a bunch of broken plastic bits on the trim panels.

i think that would be one of the most tedious jobs- just fixing all the plastic bits that get broken when taking old stuff apart.  what exactly had to be done to get the a/c working?  new evap? expansion valve? leaky a/c lines?? o-rings?

funny how some women can be very closed minded and ignorant at times, and then have the audacity to bash us men.  as long as she is appreciative to have a man that can actually fix things then it's all good  8)

well in a way Dr D's method is efficient? and cheaper in the long run!
because i'm still paying for my A/C! (Harley payments)  :(
but there is a guy called red green on public access has a funny show!
one of his quotes is especially after using duct tape to fix something!
(if the women don't find you handsome? at least they will find you handy!)  8)
ahh funny guy that red green!

I went to a live taping of that Red Green Show. Very fun indeed! The members of the lodge meeting at the end of each show are actually people picked from the audience who were 'wise' enough to wear lumberjack shirts.  :D

Two years ago, I replaced the condensor and it worked great for about three weeks before quitting.
Last year, I was lucky enough to have my turbo diesel rabbit on the road, and didn't use this car at all.
This year, my GF's  new mini cooper's lease expired so it was up to me to ensure she remained in air conditioned comfort. Lucky for her I can't get any parts for my rabbit!

Did you go all new with the under dash stuff?  Hows the flapper door look?  Mine must be not sealing, cold air leaks in durnig the winter.

it was a used evaporator. for the price of a new one, I'd still be better off with used, even if I could only get 2 or 3 years out of them!
All the mechanicals of the airbox were in suprisingly good shape.

Love the Red Green show.  Another good one:
