Title: Land Rover Freelander TDI
Post by: Freelander/Jetta Rick on June 30, 2008, 07:05:05 am
Hi All,
Sorry if I missed it looking through posts, but,

I have an '02 Land Rover Freelander with a 2.5 litre gas engine.
In Europe and GB I see lots running around with TDI engines.

Just what engine would that be and how practical / impossible.. would a swap be?

For example, would it use the same transmission..
What about fuel tank and primary fuel pump..
All those basic questions, but first, what motor would that be?

Thanks,
Rick

I would actually suggest asking that on this (http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?act=idx) forum as they will have a much better clue. Also with such a new vehicle, you probably should check to see if it is even legal to do where you live as it very well might not be. I see you fit into the theory that someone made than a lot of Land Rover owners also own VW's.

over hear in the UK the tdi one has the engine from the rover 200- 25 a 2.0 tdi the first ones were mechanal pump 2-3 years then changed to fly by wire , and thay are good engines , as for fitting it you may need a gear box or bellhousing - engine mounts , iff you stuck with the M tdi it would not take to much to convert

Only the rover engine for half the time, rest was the BMW 2.0 diesel
