Title: Lots of black smoke on Acceleration
Post by: ravendubber on June 22, 2008, 06:47:45 pm
Hi All,

I'm fairly new to Deiseling.  I recently bought an 85 jetta turbo diesel imported from Germany by a serviceman.  When I get on the accelerator hard ( 1/3 to WOT) the car pours out the black smoke.  Is this normal?  The car runs excellent.

Fixes??

thanks
Kade

maybe the fuel is turned up.  don't smoke too much or EGT's will skyrocket and burn the valves and or turbo.

As JT said, the full load screw may be turned up. Especially if the serviceman knew what he was doing.

Also, the injectors may be plugged up a bit. Do a search here and find some info on some fuel conditioner to free them up.

Check the air filter first, it might be bunged up.
