Title: head bolts, size?

is there a way to tell what size head bolts i have without pulling the head? i want to order studs, but i need to keep the car running till i get all of the parts and complete my backup car(truck)

12 mm bolts have 12 point sockets
11mm bolts have 6 point sockets
you will be able to see the topof a headbolt to identify 6 or 12 by opening the oil fill cap
12mm is usually 1981 and newer

i dont know what year the motor came out of, but thanks for the tip on the heads. ill check that out tomorrow and order my studs :)
