Title: Air Conditioning and the 1.6 NA
Post by: overdrivegear on June 20, 2008, 03:54:47 pm
Does anyone know how much of a refrigerant charge goes into the diesel AC systems?  I'm about to charge mine up with freeze 12 refrigerant and need to know how much.
Any ideas where to look if nobody knows?

Thanks,
Mark

It will take about two cans of R12. It has a site glass on the pass. side up front by the condenser under the alt. When you start to charge the system you will see the site glass get foggy when it gets clear stop adding refrigerant.

yea the sight glass is quite helpful.  not a definitive guide, but great for the do-it-yourselfer.

are you filling up with R12 or the new HC-12a?  the hydrocarbon stuff is way better for the environment, and a bit easier on your a/c system...

Is HC-12a the same as R134A?
