I know quite a few people here have painted their blocks with POR engine enamel, I just wanted to get some views on the following:
1) Color choice to match the VW green bleock
2) Ease of application
3) Longevity
Input is appreciated. Thanks

So I guess no one has used it? I thought I saw someone here posting that they had used it. Oh well. I think I'll try it anyway.

POR works very well from what I've seen.
Why don't ya post up some pics of the prep. pain and finished product?

id like to see your pics of the work too, sounds interesting...

I know a lot of the LR people use their rust preventative frame paint and are very happy with it. If the engine paint is at all like the frame paint, don't get it on your skin or you will be wearing it for weeks.

I used it on a Tr6 frame and it was very durable. Even after 3 seasons of driving, the POR15 finish was shiny and new looking.
Ditto on the "don't get it on your skin". It took weeks for the stuff to wear off my skin.
Finally, the key to adhesion is surface prep. POR15 carries a "surface prep" kit .

I used POR engine enamel on my truck, it's held up very well. But like they said above, surface prep is key, follow the directions to the letter and it should last a long time. I used "buick green", it's not very close to the VW color, but I like it regardless.
So far I've put about 30K on it, with just a few touch ups here and there.

Thanks. I'm probably gonna get into the stuff this month and practice on a 16V motor for my Jetta GLI. I'll post some results.

I used regular spray paint (3 layers) and then Motip high temperature varnish (clear, another 3 or 4 layers)
surface prep is everything! I cleaned and sanded the block, except a few corners, those spots are a shame!
on the test block: (renault gasser, done 10kKm and still looks the part)
