Hi guys,

couldnt figure out where to put this.
Ive got a place in dubai selling me a set of 1.6td KS pistons for 340 USD a set and a set of nural pistons for USD 290 a set. I know the price difference is not that great - but Im asking for experiences if anyone has used the NURAL brand.

I have no personal experience with Nural pistons, so take this with a grain of salt.  If these are anything to go by, you should be safe with the Nurals:  http://vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=14145
They appear to be beautifully made and if they take the same care in the build quality of the piston as they do in the aesthetic value you should be pleased.  Hopefully the micrometer reinforces this.

either way you're dealing with quality stuff there, just stay away from the no-name stuff

mate checked them in person and says - that they seem to be better finished than KS - I got me a set for my car in Pakistan.

well for a piston story - Ive used a brand called right-way in my 1988 Honda Accord back home coupled with a set of NPR piston rings, built the engine myself about 5 years and 180,000 kms ago - needed a valve job/headgasket at 110,000 because it blew a welch plug, after that - it still shows proper compression and consumes no oil. pretty good for a cheapo brand that cost less than half the genuine Honda.

Wonder if anyone has heard of RW pistons here?

I have heard of RW pistons havn't ever used them...

Zulfiqar, theres a guy here in Islamabad having brand new 1.6TD KS pistons with pins and rings. i think hes asking for 20K.. leme knw if u want them i can recheck.

Question for myke_w, Do those nurals have a teflon coating above the rings on the skirt sides? It sort of looks like this in the pictures anyways.

I'm pretty sure that the Goetze spl? don't have any coating above the rings.

Right Way was actually a OEM piston supplier for some Ford diesels in Europe. They claim that they also supply parts to Kolbenschmidt.

I am sure that the pistons that Prothe sells are from Right Way.

OEM for europe - little hard to digest..  - from personal experience I think they can because Ive driven that Accord to death - rebuilt the engine and the RWs still are keeping up 2 timing belts later

I got a set of ARCO pistons from prothe. I don't know if they are a division of anybody or what. The box just says ARCO genuine parts. They could be the best pistons on earth, but I am not going to use them in my 1.6L Turbo. I will put them in my N/A, but I want to run some boost in my turbo and to me it is just worth the peice of mind to put the extra 125 dollars in the factory ones. My time is worth that and I hate doing somethings more than once. Like I said they may be the best on earth, but until I have several people before me saying so I will just stick with what is proven. That being said as well I think that they look good enough to hold up to the NA engines demands so that is where they are going for me.
