ok.. i went to change the pin in my car, and my mate thought you had to undo the throttle cable, anyways, by the time i got back from having a piss, he'd pulled it off. Now we/he can't get it back together properly.
We got it back together finally, took it for a blast, and i'm not getting full throttle, looking into it I believe its because there isn't enough tension on the spring, how ever im really not sure.
I cant find any tech diagrams or anything, could someone post some pictures of theres up, or how its meant to go back together..
asap would be great, as my car aint working now :(

Are you talking about the spring setup or the cable itself?

where does the black lip and the bottom spring go?
-
Is the "black lip" concave shaped?do you have two springs or just one?
-
yeah its concave shaped, and just 1 spring.

the small cup preloads the bottom end of the spring, allowing you to twist to match up the idle hash mark on the throttle lever w/the one on the shaft itself.hope this helps a little. i know i had trouble when i attempted this.

i understand but.. how does it preload the spring, can you explain how do i do it? sorry...

punch your friend.
Sorry I couldnt help more...

I did the governor mod on my 84 rabbit and ran into this. It was an NA but same deal in the pictures here. I don't know if I did it correctly but I had the benefit of knowing where it was (pictures) when I took it off. I put the line on the shaft about exactly in the middle of all the lines on the lever... if it were a clock 12 and 6, mine was just slightly to the right of 12 but pretty dead nuts on 6.
I put it on, barely tightened the nut enough so it wouldn't move, pushed the lip of the spring with a screw driver until I could grab it with needle nose pliers and pulled some more. My black piece didn't have a lip on it...might have broken? It is on there now hope it helps for your project.

cheers mate.. can you share some pics??? :D
-
theres a stop in the body of the pump, thats where the bottom end of the spring tensions.the concave cup takes the top end of the spring.while rotating you should be able to preload the spring. You have to preload untill you come around and line up the hash marks on the throttle shaft and lever. It takes a little patience and muscle.when theyre lined up then start your nut and washer on the shaft.

i dunno if ive fitted it right, but its on.. but i seem to be only getting 1/4" throttle?? its really slow, turbo dont spall up.. maybe there isnt enough tension in the spring??
-
i really dunno whats up..
ive sure the throttle is fitted ok, it feels fine, it goes right to the max, and revs right to the limit..
but its ULTRRRRRRRA slow on the road, turbo aint spalling up properly, but if i really rag the tits of it, it does get up to 5psi... i guess it aint got enough exhaust gases???
i dunno whats up with it.. and no garage around my area has a clue
-
when you're right on the pedal do you get any black smoke out the exhaust???

no... i don't..
i have to admit, it does seem to be runnin very slightly different..
-
gears seem to be longer??
when ragging it, i can go to bout 30+mph in 1st with the engine screaming, it never used to do that... i used to run out of puff easily by 20mph..?
-
anyone

If you pulled the throttle plate off without marking where it indexed to the throttle shaft then that's what's wrong.... as far as I know trial and error is the only way to rediscover where it works correctly.

i spent all day playin with it today, ended up messing around with the max fuel screw, and after loads of playin bout its all fast again 8) 8)
