I'm looking at buying a 2004 jetta tdi sport edition and I'm wondering your opions would be of this model. I would also like to know the specs of this model and the normral jett tdi.
Thanks for your insight.

I am also interested in it. One of my concerns is mpg. VW says it will be in the 50's, epa says no way, high 30's. My neighbor has a 2004 2.0 passat diesel and he only gets 38mpg out of it. This new one has a much more restictive exhaust system, and is putting out more HP. I dont see how they will get 50+mpg out of it. 10-15mpg difference is huge, hell a new corolla will get 40 on the highway.

2004 Jetta has the 1.9 PD engine, should do just fine as long as you have proof of 505.01 rated oil being used in it.

vw's mpg rating is if you don't drive it too hard, and the motor must be broken in. don't expect a car off the line to achieve 50 mpg. maybe after 50'000km's...
