Hi, Now I read alot about the boost pin all over this forum, and alot of other diesel forums.
Some people reccomend it, like it's a must have, others disagree, alot of different opinions.
But does anyone really have a proof that it works? I won't take out and hunt one down unless It's really worth it. :)
Sorry if it's been up before, but I need some clarification

Its everything you've heard about, and more:

Its the most "aggressive" pin in the vw line up.

Hehe cool then I'll trust that. But is it a standard part on 1.6td's or is it a rare part to find
-
Its standard on every 1.6TD with an LDA.
-
Also standard in any Cummins VE pump.
-
Thank's guys, I'm appreciating it :)

you can also grind the 1.9 one, or buy the part from a bosch supplier.
(don't know the reference)
-
I can grind my own one down? But is that possible to do "right" and if so, Has anyone done it? I'll like to see a pic of that :) To know EXACTLY where to grind and so..
-
who disagrees? they need to ride in a car with one and one with out one, big difference
-
Im just interested to see one, homegrinded :) Don't wanna mess thing up you know.. Only for my own sorry sake, I'm in a "learning about diesel" phase ;)

I have 2 custom ground pins, running one of them now.
1st one is ground for a very aggressive fuel delivery and the 2nd is ground for low fuel delivery for the first 3/4 of the ramp then a bit more aggressive than the 1st pin so while putting around I an drive with less smoke but at higher RPM's I can get more fuel if I want.
Currently running the 2nd pin and I still have to much smoke putting around, my k24 doesn't build boost till 3000 rpm at this elevation.
I need a tiny turbo for around town and the k24 for high rpms, a VNT25 would be SAWEEEETTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have pics of my ground pin there ....
make sure you polish the pin after grinding .....
do a google search on "old smokey fuel pin " there should be some hits on that aftermarket cummins ve fuel pin .

danm, I just grinded my stock pin down a bit, not that much but a little so it got some more aggressive looks.. WOOOHAA suddenly there was no more car, but a beast.. Smokes now, didnt before, and it actualy moves.. It can move!?!?!
Danm, I want a 1.6td pin now, it's sure to be better than the little grind I did myself, my concerns now concentrates around the engine itself.. Can it take it? I'm driving 0.9 bar tops now.. 0.7 before
-
Just make sure you get an EGT gauge before you go to far. You can actually grind 4 different flat profiles in a 1.9 pin, and just turn it to the one you want.

The OEM boost pin for a 1.9 TD has about 1 mm of recess ground into it. I ground mine at 2 mm and made a noticable increase in power without too much smoke. Than I ground an extra mm (3mm total) and the cars behind me tended to ''dissapear'' :P . I'll go back to 3 mm when I get my intercooler installed but for now, not having an pyrometer and not willing to melt anything, I'll stick to 2mm  . For the record, my max fuel screw is at +1 turn and everything else accordingly, K14 turbo and 2.5'' straight exhaust(http://picasaweb.google.ca/choppercat205/VWDiesel/photo#5204316991608848002)

Anyone have the part number for one? How much could it be new? Probably just easier to go to napa or crappy tire and try to get one.
