Title: Identify these glow plugs
Post by: dubbinchris on May 26, 2008, 04:42:34 am
I picked up a Quantum TD several months ago.  The PO gave me four new plugs in the deal. They are still in the box but I don't know if they are the short ones or the long ones.  I would like to put them in especially if they are the short ones but need to make sure my relay matches.

They are made by VSP and have the part number PU-043.  I've googled many ways and searched on this site as well before creating a new topic.  Can anyone help me identify these or guide me to a place that would help.

Thanks,  Chris

I appreciate the advice, however your post didn't really help me much.    Can anybody else out there help a new guy out?

Do you mean the fast or the slow glow plugs?

Use some jumper cables and hook one end to the battery and the other end to the glow plug.  You can see how fast they turn red hot.

Yes that's what I meant.

I'll give that a whirl and see what happens.

If you have searched extensively for "VSP" and found nothing, doesn't that tell you something?  If good 'ol "VSP" had a decent product, they'd probably still be around.  Their lack of internet presence speaks volumes.

I'm with libbybapa, the track record for non-Bosch glow pluggs is pi55 poor.  You have been given the best advice, all things being concidered.  Why do you ask questions if you don't like to hear honest answers?

Best case is you break even; they work fine. And this is highly unlikely

Worse case is you frag a cylinder, and have to get a new motor.

How lucky do you feel?
