Is this the, as the Bentley describes it, the "old-style flat fuse for the Auxiliary heater" not to be confused with the glow plug fuse?

Does it do anything on a 1994 Jetta TD?

That's nasty looking.

Kinda looks like the glow-plug fuse but I think the GP fuse is mounted to the firewall.

How much stuff comes out of the bottom of it? and what gauge wires?

I had the same question, but no pic. Vince W. suggested it was the fuse for the fan\ac module.

So does that take an 80-amp fusible link like the fan fuse on Audi 200s and V8s?

The link between the two screws is broken, and there's no continuity between the screws.

This box with the plastic lid is located sort-of beneath the coolant reservoir in my 1994 Jetta TD, behind the battery.
