Figured id put this here as this has been the only section i ever really used the most.
May 1st on my way home from work the Jetta GTD was struck down my a nice little old lady in a Taurus. With the only thought of playing bingo on her mind the old lady tried to brave four lanes of traffic in order to get to her destination. However, she forgot other cars use those four lanes so therefore due to a lack of judgement she took out me as well as another car. Ill let pictures speak for themselves now, i did get news that the accident was 100% her fault.

I was in the right lane and the focus was in the left lane. Unfortunately i had nowhere to go when the focus slammed on his brakes and i found out why. All i could do was slide into the Taurus of the old lady (Who didnt have her seatbelt on). Everyone did survive though and me and the car beside me walked away with minor injuries. Old lady that cut us off was not so lucky and had to be rushed to the hospital after it took them 1.5hrs to get her out of her car.
The car is a write off but i already have the rebuild planned out.

*** the bed, that sucks.
Next project now eh!
-
That makes me cry. At least you are ok. They should make license retesting mandatory for people over 75.
-
I actually got a upset belly seeing those pics..
That blows!!
-
That should buff out no problem...
Seriously sucks, will you be able to salvage the motor or any other good bits from it, or did you let the insurance company take it?
Hope your next project turns out as nice, that was one sweet Jetta.
-
the engine seems ok, fuel pump got smashed so hope i get money back for that as well. I kept the car for me to salvage parts, as for the new rebuild.
Its getting a 1.9TD. Im picking up the new car this sunday as well.
-
Wow that looks pretty bad, glad to hear you are ok.
-
Arrrrghhhhhhhhh
that just sucks, my condolences to you.
best of luck on new build tho
-
old + lady + driving = epic fail
man your car was awesome... sucks that its destroyed now, but good luck on the new build :)
-
...soon, only criminals will have bingo cards...........
-
 Glad you are Ok. At least it'll live again somewhat. Keep us posted on the new build.
-
new build is a 1992 Alpine White Jetta Coupe. Gonna be swapping in a 1.9TD with T3 turbo, intercooled, GTD injectors, blah blah this, blah blah that, some sort of Giles pump, 2.5 inch straight pipe exhaust. We shall see how she turns out :D
-
man......I almost cried looking at those pics. sorry to hear about it.
-
Hurts to see those pics again Tom... Can't wait to see your new ride! :)
-
I'd be crushed if I had a nice car like that and it was totaled.
Let me know if your parting it out.
-
sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident  , I wish you the best of luck on the rebuild
just a quick question tho, looking at the pictures, i was wondering what your intercooler was from it looks HUGE.
-
I'm sure glad you're OK. Sorry you lost that beautiful car.
No airbag, right?
-
no airbag, just the good'ol seatbelt. Bonked my head on the steering wheel still but thats about it. The intercooler was from Yonaka's website, its like an 18x6x2.5...And it survived the crash :D
-
Jeez, a Taurus collected my '78 Rabbit the same way.
Are all Taurus drivers stupid?
Don't sign anything that the offenders insurance company puts in front of you.
The car is one thing, but don't blow off your personal health.
If you have pain any where from the accident, get it checked out right away. A lawer is not a bad idea either. I have a torn disk, and permanent Facet damage in my back from my accident. Over $50,000 in medical bills.
It was over 3 years ago, and things are still screwed up in my back. I'm going to mediation soon.
Don't let yourself be taken advantage of!

sad thing to happen...
i loved your car and the way it sounded...
best luck for next time...

über suck, I'm sorry to see that. Now get busy and get that motor into another clean Jetta shell!

Steady on my mother-in-law is 82 and has never had a blameworthy crash. Her GTD is the first diesel she's driven since driving a WW2 people carrier for the WRENS

So I guess I couldn't talk you out of a "Jetta GTD" Trunk badge then...
Remember! REBUILD PICS!!!

I'm sorry to learn what happened to your great car. You walked away without a scratch, and that's what matters the most.
I tend to think that our vw's are quite safe anyway, a friend of mine got rear ended last week in his mk2 golf (front and rear end totally wasted), but he had nothing, and the car will be running by this week's end (fortunatelly no frame damage).
Looking forward to see your rebuilt car! :)
