Title: Transmission Flushing
Post by: subsonic on April 12, 2008, 06:18:40 pm
So I should be getting my 02A CTN transmission shortly.  It has about 100,000 miles on it.  While it is out and easy to get to, is there any preventative maintenace I can do on it?  Seals, lubrication etc?
Is flushing as simple as fill and drain?  I would assume that for the fill and drain to work, I would need to drive it in between, to circulate all the new fluid around.  Idea's?

I usually drain, fill, drive, drain again and re-fill.  I always jack the car up on the filling side so that it gets a wee bit of extra oil.

if you could somehow insert something into the drain hole (thread a hose in maybe?) then you could easily 'flush' the tranny with a little pump circulating the fluid back into the tranny.  of course you would want something that would clean it out as best as possible, and have a filter attached so crap doesn't flow back into the tranny.  not really sure how they flush automatic trannies, and what kind of solutions (if any) they use.
