Title: 1.6 and 1.9 con rod dimensions
Post by: smiffie88 on April 12, 2008, 03:24:17 pm
i want to use 1900 pistons in my 1600 gtd motor as it needs a re-bore gudgeon pin looks bigger on the1900 rod i need the dimensions off both rods so i can try and find a rod that is already made as custom rods seem to be expansive.

1,6: 24/136/50,6mm
1,9na: 24/150/50,6mm
1,9td: 26/144/50,6mm

small end/length/big end

1,9na piston is with 24mm pin and it is a couple mm shorter than 1,6 piston.

what rods are you running MJF? did you have them made?
cant you get a 1.7 transporter engine? is that the same bore as the 1.9 im guessing?

im a little confused with all these bores, strokes and rods, how did yours come to be a 1.7? do you have a 1.6 crank?

I have custom fitted Nascar SBC rods (~154mm long). I´m also using 1,9 block (80mm bore) and 1,6 crank. 1,7 have same bore than 1,9 and same connecting rods and crank than 1,6

how much did those rods set you back if you dont mind me asking?
so if you ran a 1.6 crank and rods in a 1.9 and cut a bit off the top of the block ud have a 1.7?

i wana start building a new engine for when this one gives up, i want a 1.7 but dont know how to go about building it. do you think that its worth getting rods made up? or wud standard rods take that sort of horse power
