Ok guys..been driving my car for a good 2 weeks and everything is doing really well.
Now I want to change the gearbox oil on ol' Thumper but I don't have the size allen to fit the drain plug. Does anyone know what size the drain plug is on the 4 Speed trannys? I dont know if there are different types but if it helps, its off of an 81' 1.6NA.
If you guys can reply quickly I would appreciate it because I'd like to get it done today. Thanks a whole lot.

IIRC it's a 17mm.
You can use a wheel lug with a 17mm wrench on it.

it's 17mm forsure... I remember not having that mother one time, had ta stop my build and go back to canadian tire
what a tight one and they like to leak on me when i get it back in...PITA

make sure you can get the fill one out before removing the drain plug

X2 on the fill plug :(
I used the head of a bolt that fit in my junk bolt box...no idea what size I just milled around for some thing that fit that hex plug and turned it out with a pair of Vicegrips on the bolt threads :D

The head of one of your wheel bolts will do the trick in a pinch.................

I used a bolt with a 17mm head as well. I double nutted the bolt so I would have something to put a wrench on..

I made mine out of a 17mm allen wrench. Wipped out my trusty bi-metalic hack saw blade and had at it.
Took about ten min of sawing, but it works great. Just drop it into a 17mm socket and voila, 17mm allen socket.
Dump the old crap and put in Redline MTL.
