has anyone put a switch in their car for the ip fuel cutoff solenoid. i was thinking of doing this just as a precaution. the solenoid has to have power inorder to let the car run correct? if thats the case then you could splice a switch into it.   right?

Correct. You could also splice into the starter exciter wire so they can't kill your battery. A relay would be most of what you would need.

Well, my insurance went up when I switched from a 94 Ford to a 86 Golf.  According to my agent, the Golf is considered a higher theft risk. That was based on the Golf with no reference to fuel type.

Cut off switch for the fuel cutoff solenoid and one for the ground to the starter relay.

Or a single switch and a relay to do both.

Get a 1/2" steel cable approx. 30 feet long. Clamp one end into a loop and use a clevis to attach it to one of your tie down points on the car.  Make the same style loop on the other end and run it to this,

if u know the vw diesels tho and u want to steal the car its not hard to just jump the solenoid haha

i do have one such switch for the injector pump but also another that will disable the ignition switch along with all electric functions in the car ... i.e. cuts power to the key switch on the steering.  

TBH i can bypass them myself if the relay fails and that means that its not fool proof since i am an electronic's fool, however it does take time to figure out how messed up it is... provided he finds the solenoid to open the bonnet

If he opens te bonnet he will find plenty for wires from 3 previous conversions by 3 previous electronics illitterate owners running around lofl On the golf electric manual for theives it may say "short circuit the blue starter wire with the black one..." in my car that would probably mean that the fan would start running...

took my car to an auto electrician and said that it either needs a new underbonnet harness or else he does it himself for $400!  he gratiously added that he had never seen such a messed up collection of loose ends, wires taped together, wrong colour coded additions or replacement wires ecc.
