Title: for those with diferent valve covers
Post by: carrizog60 on March 26, 2008, 01:02:48 am
i have a gti 8v valve cover to install but as i was looking for a pic and size of the bolts to it i read that the timing belt cover wont fit...

is this true?what should i do to make it fit?

my car is a daily so i dint have the possibility to have it stopped to check for that as for the bolts size so any help on this two would be great

thanks

I cant see how you'd fit a 3 sprocket cover onto the 4 sprocket diesel

You have a injection pump in the way....I could be wrong but I know mine doesnt fit!

that's just my personal experiences
Good luck

Valve cover, not timing belt cover.

Guess I read it as GTI valve cover with Diesel timing cover. Guess we need some clarification.

I have a 1.6, don't know if the bolt config is different.  But, I put a G60 cover on and it fit with a little grinding to fit under the timing cover.

The G60 cover fit my 1.6 with no mods at all. I did get the rubber gasket and stud conversion off eBay. The new AAZ, has no available cover so I powdercoated that.

You can, but the rubber gasket is an upgrade and requires a shouldered stud.

Can the G40 (PY code) be made to fit the AAZ?

Back on topic, I have fitted both a polished 2.0 8v (2E code) and a G60 (PG code to my 1.6 GTD (SB code) and haven't had to modify anything other than fit the neoprene gasket kit from VW

probably best to search on German Ebay for "G40 Ventildeckel"
link (http://search-desc.ebay.de/search/search.dll?sofocus=unknown&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&catref=C6&from=R10&satitle=Ventildeckel+g40&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&fts=2&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=Postleitza&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32%26fsoo%3D2&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=)

Unfortunately they were only fitted to the Polo G40 (1.4 supercharged engine) so aren't very common.

VW part No. 030 103 475 F

I only count 3 spark plugs.  Are the 3-cyl engines the same length of block?

Andrew

There are four plug wires there...

The g40 (PY) which has the rocker cover that might fit the AAZ has the same block and head casting as a 1.3 (2G) (I have one of these in my garage)
if you need any sizes/dimensions of the rocker cover  let me now and Ill measure it up (bearing in mind mine is the standard pressed steel cover)

Above 1.3 2G petrol
Below 2.0 2E petrol

2g inside
