Title: 40% mini-slip wanted
Post by: dillenger1 on March 20, 2008, 02:23:25 pm
Has anyone ever "cheated' there way to a 40% diff lock?I know its only a couple of washers for the 40% kit.Im bolting up my diff and want to do this while im down there. It seems they would go behind each spring and cup assembly behind the drive flange, but im not sure.Does anyone understand were the "preloading" needs to be?

Check out a webpage called "brokeVW". It's put up by a VW tranny rebuilder. He describes how the shim kits work in detail and I'm sure you could figure out how to set it up using his page.

i have some valve height adjusting shims for a "small block chev" floating around from my last job,,,and i was gonna use them with my 80% kit
they look adaptable, with maybe some slight  clearancing to the id of them
any washer/shim to increase preload on the cones would  help.......yea brokes site is the best trans info page

Will some 2mm washers in back of each cup do the job?
