Title: Dyno day
Post by: smoken u on March 15, 2008, 03:13:00 pm
taking the vw to the dyno, as part of a cummins meet with my friend. hoping to get some good baseline numbers before the new engine goes in.
My engines not completely stock, so it will be interesting to see what it makes. :D

well, IN a front drive car your typical losses are anywhere from 6-9%, so that would mean that an N/A diesels makes 47.32 HP at the wheels, and the TD makes 60.97
both at 9% losses

I don't even want to think about how little a turbo or N/A diesel makes that has its air conditioning on

WIll post my dyno results on the 29th, thats when it is.

I would think they are rated at the wheels. After some time in the 70's in the US, all HP ratings were at the wheels, BHP.

most manufacturers have gone to net hp now, which rates with all electrical equipment on, and A/C if applicable.

went ot the dyno at halton hills for the meet yesterday, and was toatally disapointed, because the dynmo broke ( speed sensor was screwed) and they didn't even dyno one truck.

although I did keep up with my buddies 93 dodge ram 250 Cummins turbo diesel.

went back to the dyno today at Halton hills, they finally fixed the dyno. here are the numbers:
50.94 HP @ 2750 RPM
112 FTlbs @ 2000 RPM

After I ran they put a Can-am 800 4-wheeler on there, and it made 66 hp

at least I have some good baseline numbers now, so when the other motor  gets completed I can see how much I have gained.

If you want to see some pictures of the meet go to www.thedieseldoctorsltd.com, and click on galleries, the newest dyno day should be on there in a day or so, it will be titled dyno day 08

Yeah, but what kind of mileage does he get on his 4-wheeler? Piss poor I bet.
